Acrylates Copolymers / Carbomer is a synthetic, cross-linked, water-soluble polymer of acrylic acid with a high molecular weight. The polymer is soluble in water, alcohols, and glycols, and is available in both powder and liquid forms. Before neutralization, its aqueous dispersion typically has a pH range of 2.5 to 3.

Usp/Nf Compendial Name

Carbomer Homopolymer Type C

It is a powerful rheology modifier that provides high viscosity and forms hydro-alcoholic gels or crystal-clear water. Among all grades, it stands out as the most efficient thickener due to its extremely low flow properties. Ideal for high-viscosity liquids or gels, it is widely used in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. Meeting usp/nf standards, Carbomer 980 is a benzene-free alternative to Carbomer 940.

In pharmaceutical applications, it also serves as a binder in sustained-release formulations. Carbomer 974p is a benzene-free variant of hairpol 934p.

It provides high viscosity and forms crystal-clear gels, hydro- alcoholic gels, and sparkling creams. Ideal for clear gels, hydroalcoholic gels, creams, and lotions, it offers short-flow and non-drip characteristics for superior formulation performance.

0.2 to 0.4%. This emulsifier is hlb-independent and cold-processable. When emulsions with higher viscosity are required, other hairpol grades should be utilized with Carbomer tr-2.
